The predecessor of the Information Office was the Information Section and it was under the Secretariat. It was officially renamed as the Information Office in December 1992.
The major duty of the Information Office is to facilitate communication between the general public and the county government. In addition to promoting the county government’s policies, administrative plans and performances through the media, the Information Office will help the public understand the implementation and targets of these policies and plans.
There are two sections in the Information Office, which are Administration Section and Promotion Section. The major tasks of the Administration Section include supervision and management of cable TV, improvement of TV reception in remote areas, the rental and sales of publications and video tapes, supervision and management of movie theaters, management of light booths and special projects. The major responsibilities of the Promotion Office include news releases, media relations, policy promotion, city diplomacy, electronic newspapers, and production of policy promotion films.
